Hero of the Day - Lady Dumps Popcorn On 2 Year Old For Talking In The Movie Theater During "The Last Jedi"
The Washington Post – That’s not the case with Keri Karman, police say, who is accused of raining popcorn and the empty tub on a child at an AMC movie theater in Levittown, Long Island. She and her father were arrested Friday after an investigation of the Jan. 2 incident, the New York Post reported.
The incident played out against a screening of the PG-13 rated “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,”.
Celia Riggs, 28, had settled into her seat with her husband, Scottie, and three children to watch the film, the Post reported. Her 2-year-old daughter asked for some popcorn and Karman, 25, told the girl to be quiet, police said.
Riggs “asked the unknown female not to talk to her daughter,” a Nassau County Police Department incident summary said, referring to Karman.
“All she said was ‘popcorn.’ She didn’t even say a full sentence,” Riggs, 28, told the New York Post.
Then it got ugly, authorities said.
Karman allegedly began to curse at the girl and Riggs and placed her hand over the child’s mouth. Then Karman showered the girl in popcorn and struck her with the empty container. Karman then fled with her father, Charles, as Riggs’s daughter cried. The girl had a contusion from the incident, authorities said.
There’s this thing called the Social Contract. It’s defined as an implicit agreement among the members of a society to cooperate for social benefits. Basically like the unwritten rules. Take this story for example. “Not dumping popcorn on a tiny child and assaulting someone” is a written rule – you can be punished by law for breaking that one. Keri Karman found that out. But what I’m more interested in is the breaking of the unwritten rules in this story. The breach of the social contract. In this case – the motherfucking two year old fucking snot nosed crying whiny baby toddler being brought into a motherfucking movie theater to watch a motherfucking movie.
Celia Riggs. Why is SHE not in jail, in the next cell over? How is it any way shape or form acceptable to bring your 2 year old kid into an adult movie? To cry, to talk, to kick, to make noise. I mean it’s not its fault. It’s 2. It doesn’t know where the fuck it is. That’s why parenting was inventing. To not bring noisy dumb toddlers to a place where people pay $14.50 for a ticket and $22 for snacks and soda to watch a movie in complete and utter darkness and silence. If you have that little respect for the movie going system what DO you have respect for?
Also, always get both sides.
Abby Levitt Ferrara, a friend of Keri, defended her on Facebook, calling the accusation out of character.
“Too bad you didn’t hear the real story!! When asked to quiet the kid, the mother pushed Keri and the popcorn went flying,” Ferrara wrote, according to the New York Post. “Keri never raised a hand in any way .?.?. there is not an aggressive bone in Keri’s body.”
PS,
Just noticing now the date on that – incident happened January 2, arrest was made March 4? Quite the investigation for a movie popcorn disturbance. Gotta think Keri thought she had the statute of limitations sewn up on that one.
